Audubon Environmental Project Named 2008 Green Project Of The Year
Environmental Consulting Firm Recognized By National Association Of Home Builders

RALEIGH, N.C. – Miles M. (Bud) Smart, Ph.D., president of Audubon Environmental (http://www.audubonenv.com), a sustainability consulting firm that works with landowners, developers and government entities to protect and sustain land, water, wildlife and natural resources, has announced that Hidden Lake, one of the firm’s clients, was named 2008 Green Project of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders. Hidden Lake, developed by Crescent Resources, LLC, is a gated community located in Youngsville, N.C., featuring 124 home sites spread throughout 600 acres. Audubon Environmental partnered with Crescent Resources to provide technical guidance and sustainable development assistance on environmental design, construction, management and education strategies.

At Hidden Lake, Audubon Environmental developed a sustainable land plan that included the implementation of twice the regulatory buffer width on the lake to protect water quality, bridges over wetlands to limit impacts and a community-specific green building program for builders. Land development guidelines created by Audubon Environmental and Crescent Resources limited the amount of land cleared as well as the amount of impervious surface permitted on each parcel.

Audubon Environmental assisted Crescent Resources in securing the Certified Gold Audubon Signature Sanctuary status through Audubon International’s Signature Program for new developments. Audubon Environmental is the exclusive provider of Audubon International’s environmental services for the Signature and Classic programs. For more information, visit http://www.audubonenv.com.
