Oitavos Dunes

Located in the Sintra-Cascais National Park, close to the Guincho beach and surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Oitavos Dunes benefits from excellent access to Cascais Villa. The golf course routing is a continuous loop of holes similar to links courses in Scotland. The sequence is an undisturbed golf experience from start to finish. Distant views of the Atlantic Ocean and the nearby Sintra mountain are distinguishable from every hole. As lead architect for the project, the name Arthur Hills has become well recognized in the world of golf.

Sustainability Features

• Quinta Tank locations were placed in non-golf areas to provide a water source for wildlife, allowing enhancement of wildlife diversity on site.
• A nursery area is used to propagate native species for use in the naturalized areas, allowing as little environmental intrusion of the golf course as possible.
• An active invasive species removal program is in place.
• An Environmental Education Center is used for school groups to learn about nature as well as gardening and farming practices.
