Colbert Hills Golf Course
Located just outside of Manhattan, Kansas, the Colbert Hills Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course designed by Jim Colbert, and a 9-hole par 3 facility. On a beautiful 300 acres of the rolling Flint Hills, the facility is home to the Earl Woods National Youth Golf Academy, the Kansas State Golf Team, and is used as a living laboratory by the University’s Golf Course Management students.
Sustainability Features
- Each green, tee, and fairway of the par 3 course was seeded with a different variety of bentgrass species for research purposes.
- Research is also being carried out to see the environmental impacts of golf and evaluating the best turfgrass management practices for the golf industry in the Midwest.
- Education opportunities abound for the youth programs surrounding the course, offering training on the game and environmental stewardship.
