The Sanctuary
Tucked away on a quiet corner of Lake Wylie in Charlotte, NC, the Sanctuary is one of the most exclusive luxury lake communities in the Southeast, offering huge wooded and waterfront properties. Only 187 families will call this 1,300-acre nature reserve community home. Residents of the Sanctuary enjoy a peaceful, secluded atmosphere with nearly 20 miles of nature trails and seven miles of largely undisturbed space along the Lake Wylie shoreline.
Sustainability Features
- Only 20% of the land will be developed.
- A development envelope was created for each homesite based on topography, vegetation, and other ecological features to limit site disturbance.
- Established a 200' buffer along Lake Wylie which is four times the County requirement.
- The amenity site called the John James Audubon Lodge is LEED certified.
- Twenty miles of nature trails promote environmental education with appropriately placed trail signage.
- A nature event is scheduled each month for residents and include building bird boxes, planting trees, or visits from the Raptor Center.
