Hidden Lake
Hidden Lake is a 600 acre community within a 20-minute drive northeast of Raleigh, North Carolina. Beyond the gates, 227 acres of the community is devoted to green space including the 100-acre Audubon Preserve. Other amenities include a 75 acre spring fed lake, four miles of paved and soft-surface hiking trails, and pocket parks that are woven throughout the community.
Sustainability Features
- Doubled the regulatory buffer width and restricted the use of gas powered engines on the lake to protect water quality.
- Built bridges over wetlands to limit impacts.
- Developed a community specific green building program.
- Development guidelines limit the amount of land that can be cleared and the amount of impervious surface allowed on each parcel.
- Implemented a water quality monitoring program.
- Partners with NC State Fisheries and Wildlife students to monitor fish health and diversity.
