Bundoran Farm
Bundoran Farm is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and is just a fifteen-minute drive from historic Charlottesville and the renowned University of Virginia. Bundoran Farm comprises approximately 2,300 acres in entirety with a unique working farm integrated with the community development. Cattle pastures, apple orchards, and managed forests with over 15 miles of trails are an active part of this sustainable community. This distinctive model of Preservation Development, in which farming operations are part of the inherited environment, establishes a series of layers that connect residents to nature, to the farm, and to each other.
Sustainability Features
- Farming operations, roads and homesites are based on a thorough understanding of the land and placed to minimize impacts.
- As Bundoran Farm matures, the management of resources will be locally and globally impacted by the decisions of individual homeowners.
- Developed sustainable building guidelines to assist homeowners, architects and builders in making informed decisions to protect the character of the landscape.
- Areas of the farm under productive agricultural operations are reserved in an agricultural easement.
- In return for allowing easements on their property, homeowners enjoy access to nearly the entire farm property.
- Little possibility of changing the use of currently productive farmland to one of a non-agricultural use.
